Black Christopher
Professor Christopher F. Black, (b.1941), graduated from Oxford University, and had his whole academic career at Glasgow University from 1965, where he is now an Honorary Research Professor in Italian History. His early research and article publications concerned Perugia under the Baglioni and the Papal State. His major books have been: Italian Confraternities in the Sixteenth Century (Cambridge University Press, 1989, and 2003 reprint), translated as Le Confraternite Italiane nel Cinquecento (Rizzoli, 1994); Early Modern Italy. A Social History (Routledge, 2001); Church, Religion and Society in Early Modern Italy (Palgrave, 2004); The Italian Inquisition (Yale University Press, 2009), forthcoming translation as Storia dell'Inquisizione in Italia, Tribunali. Eretici. Censura (Carocci, early 2013).
